    Default Comodo SSL & IdAuthority

On the Comodo website for the Positive SSL certificate that GH has installed on a client site, it says:

Positive SSL provides domain validation but do not authenticate the business behind the online business. However, in order to provide critical identity assurance for your site, every Positive SSL comes with FREE registration in IdAuthority. IdAuthority is world's first and unique real-time identity assurance service developed by Comodo that allows website identities to be verified against registry and public data. This validation process delivers identity assurance so customers will trust you and be confident buying on your site.
When I try to verify the IdAuthority for the domain here: IdAuthority SSL Certificate Secure Server Digital Certificate

    It says:
IdAuthority Credentials not available for this site
How do I go about registering the client site for this certificate?
    Thank you,
    Lynne Hanson

The best answer for this question can be found by contacting COMODO support directly, as we do not maintain their database for IdAuthority.

Their support site is located at the link below:

    Matt -
When you purchase the certificates from them, do they give a link or instructions to register at all?

This is the first I have heard about IdAuthority. No, they do not send any info regarding it.

It would be best to open a ticket at our helpdesk that has the domain name details in it so that our billing dept can look it up. But I doubt you need it if you simply supply the domain name to comodo in their ticket details they will be able to look it up for you.

Just spoke to a not-so-wonderful-attitude tech support guy at Comodo who insisted I needed the order #.

    I'm submitting a ticket now.

    Response from Comodo Support:

This is only available for customers who come directly to us. It can not be applied to any other offer.

IDAuthority comes on the InstantSSL certs which also include a free "Corner Of Trust" logo (which is that thing you see on the lower right hand pages on our main site) should you want to use the Trust Logo in addition to the IDauthority that comes with the InstantSSL certs sold at GlowHost.com

I'll talk with our COMODO account manager to see if it is possible to get IDauthority on the PositiveSSL certificates, but I know they won't add the Trust Logo on those since the Trust Logo alone is about $100.

I just think it's kinda crappy that you get the comodo seal but when visitors click it, by default it goes to the comodo home page and gives no info on the security status.
I just created a new page outlining SSL for visitors and when they click on the seal it goes to that page now.
I know my auth.net seal actually displays verification when you click on it.
Seems as if you are going through the ritual of getting the certificate, they would be able to pull something from the db that says "yah, they actually bought it from us" type thing.

On another note, the price is affordable and GH does awesome getting them installed and staying on top of everything.
Satisfied with the service, just kinda peeked my interest when the comodo website said you automatically were able to enroll... but then to find out you're not if you don't go straight to them.
If I was a reseller for them, I'd be questioning that response/policy.

Just my 2ยข, like you wanted it or something! LOL!
    Thank you,
