Nelly and Missy servers migration

Our Company has great news for those of our customers whose accounts are hosted on the shared server Nelly and Missy. We've decided to replace these servers with a brand-new and much more powerful machines. This upgrade requires migration of cPanel accounts to the new server. The transfer procedure will be initiated tomorrow, within the time frame specified below.

We will keep you notified on the progress. Should you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them in this thread.

Please read these details carefully:

Server Name: Nelly, Missy
Start Date: Thursday, 30 January, 2014 1AM EST
Details: Server upgrade
Expected Downtime: No downtime expected

This means work will begin at some point during this time specified in the service window above, unless unexpected situations arise. During this service window, your site may go temporarily offline. If we are unable to start the maintenance before the service window closes, it will be re-scheduled for the next day at the same time.

As always, we recommend that you have local copies of your web site in the event of unforeseen issues which may result in complete and total data loss on the server. While we do not anticipate this to be an issue, it is always a wise choice to have copies of your web site in multiple locations.

You can make copies of your web site using the backup option in your cPanel.

Will DNS records need to be updated or do they remain the same as we are currently using?

Nameservers update will depend on the account. In case it will be needed, we will open a ticket personally for account owner.

Anyway, we will forward old nameservers to the new server, so no downtime will take place.

Is there a way of knowing the IP in advance? One of our accounts on Nelly points to the server via "@" records. We'll need to update the IP address for the switch.

All of our accounts on Nelly have dedicated private IPs . . . I assume the new ones will also be dedicated.

I can't provide you with shared IP right now. Even if I do and you forward the domain, it won't work, since data is not there yet.

We will update this thread once migration is finished. For some time (probably a week or two) both old and new servers will work, so you will have time to perform nameservers switch and A records updates.

If any of your accounts require special handling, please open a ticket and let us know about it so we can try to migrate it separately so that you can do whatever it is that you need to do with the special DNS setup you have.
