    Question Webmail Question

I'm not sure of the answer, which is why I'm posting this question. If I login to mydomain.org/webmail to access webmail I'm given a choice of webmail clients; Horde, Squirrel Mail and Round Cube. If I click on each of these clients in turn to see how they look and feel and I have mail on the server, will my messages automatically download to that particular client's inbox?

If this is the case, then once I settle on a webmail client, what happens if there are any messages in the other inboxes, are they stuck there or is it possible to somehow consolidate messages into one inbox?

    Thanks for the help!

The inbox is a folder on your account. its located in /home/cpaneluser/mail/domain.com/

All 3 webmail clients access this inbox using the IMAP protocol which is the same way as if you set your local email reader to use IMAP instead of POP3, all the email is stored on the server instead of downloaded to your PC.

IMAP is the only way to make email useful IMHO.

    Default Webmail Question

Thanks for the reply Mat. I created another email account in Outlook and set it up as an IMAP account. My version of Outlook which in newer wouldn't work with the "Configure Email Client" so I set it up manually and sent and received several test messages so I know everything is configured correctly.

One more question, when I deleted these messages from the new Outlook inbox email account, they didn't move to the Deleted Items folder, there was just a strike through the message to indicate it had been deleted. I logged into webmail and there were the messages marked as being deleted but still held on the server. Will I have to periodically check the server to dump deleted messages or will they be permanently dumped after a set period of time?

    Thanks again!

I think outlook express has a purge button that will move the emails with a strikethrough to the deleted items but it is an extra step and I don't really find it useful. You might try a better email reader like Thunderbird. It works much better with IMAP than Outlook variants and is highly customizable. I've got mine set to move deleted items directly to the trash and to hang on to those items for a couple weeks then to trash them permanently.

Mat, thanks for the information. I'll look into Thunderbird as an email client option.
