    Default add-on domain

I recently got another domain and I pointed the nameservers to the same one my current domain is using, but whenever i access the url, it says address not found.

I put the nameservers back to its default, and it brings me to a parked page.

Any idea why it's not working? Do I have to add the domain to my add-on domain for it to work?

I don't want to add it because it says in one of the knowledge base thing that if i add it before it can ping the url, it might cause problems. Some help?

EDIT - Err, wait. Maybe i'm not understanding add-on domain correctly. I want to have my second URL point to the same website my main URL does. As a matter of fact, I want my new URL to be my main URL and the one I am currently using to be a secondary or whatever... either way, I want both to be going to the same site when typed in the address box.

What are you trying to do with the new domain? Park it on the main domain so both domains display the same content, or make a standalone website?

In both cases the nameservers need to be set to the same nameservers as your main domain.

Can you give me the URL of the article you are referring to? It should probably be removed or updeated as that problem no longer exists as cPanel fixed that already.

I see your edit above and you need to point the NS to the same NS as the main domain if they are not already set to that.

Once you have them set go to cPanel > Addon domans and add it in there and it will create a new web site for you.

I'd be interested in the URL to that article you are mentioning though.

If by article you mean the parked page, it's just a page that the site I purchased my domain from gives me while i point the domain to a new nameserver.

It's their default page for all new registered domain.

How can I make it so that the add-on domain is my main domain? A domain name switch?

EDIT - Also, can the add-on domain have its own subdomain? for example...

my main domain is solo-gaming.net, can i have subdomains that goes by the url...

    subdomain.addondomain.com?

By "article" I mean the article in the knowledge base that I requested earlier.

IMPORTANT: If you attempt to add the addon domain before it resolves, you may encounter errors. If this happens you may have to wait for an administrator to correct your issue. To prevent this, make sure you can ping the same IP for both the master and addon domain before creating the addon domain. This will minimize the time spent getting your Domain online.

Then you need to point your name servers to the same nameservers as your main domain name.

You can open a ticket at the helpdesk to request that the domain name is switched. The fee is $10.00 each time to do this and you can terminate the site and recreate a fresh one, or, you can keep the existing site in tact and only switch the domain name. More information is available through the helpdesk for these options.

Yes you can do this after you create the addon domain. Just go to subdomains in your cPanel and you will see how to add it.
