installing joomla

just to clarify. if i change the paswords of my login i have to still use the old password to get in joomla?

If you change your cPanel password it has nothing to do with Joomla.

man that was to easy. now a quick question. when i type in the url of my site which is uwroteit.net it takes you to joomla's home page. is that the way it works till i get a web page made?

Thats not Joomla's home page that it YOUR web site's homepage showing the default install of Joomla. Its going to look like that until you modify it in the script admin.

It works exactly the same way as your forums. You have the frontend and you have the admin area. The admin of your forum is where you adjust the vBulletin settings and the admin area in Joomla is where you adjust the settings of Joomla.

where is the script manager located in admin area. i am thier now and basically want to put something like comming soon till i figure this all out

thanks matt. i feel like an idiot. i imagine the rest is as easy as the install and i spent the last week trying to figure the install out and it was just a click of a button with the program you all installed for me

The Joomla admin username and password are completely separate from your cPanel username and password. In fact, you should make them different for security purposes.

Coming soon page: in the admin, go to Site > Global Configuration and you'll see the Site offline selector and the offline message.

cool thank you. i am getting thier slowly. i wish you could just bring up the main page in html. it would be a whole lot easier to do what needs to be done
