What does the error in the bounce say?
Here is the message I got back..,
The following message to <adam.ingham@radiusfinance.com.au> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Verification failed for <gary.lewis@promotem.com.au>\nNo Such User Here\nSender verify failed'
promotem.com.au doesn't resolve to your reseller server at GlowHost. The error "No such user here" means that the server that promotem.com.au is pointing to does not have an email address setup for gary.lewis@promotem.com.au
Just trying to understand this, so please bear with my low understanding...so because i am sending an email to adam using an alias email for gary lewis the email can't be received by adam ingham but all other emails to and from adam's new email address should be OK?
If you want to send email from anything@promotem.com.au and you are trying to send this from the Missy server, then you will need to either point the MX record for promotem.com.au to the Missy server OR point your nameservers for promotem.com.au to the Missy server which will bring your MX record over as well.
Further, it is possible that if adams email account is on the Missy server, and garys account is on the Missy server, that you could email back and fourth even with your MX pointing to your other host. The root of the problem is that gary needs to actually be a real live inbox on the Missy server. I looked at your cPanel and there is no email address for gary that exists on the Missy server.
I am sending my gary lewis email from a non Missy server in Australia to adam on the missy at your end. Is it that I get a bounce because I am using the alias? Normal emails are OK?
So if I am understanding you correctly, you have a forwarder setup from andy, to gary, and you are sending to andy from your gary address in AU?
Sorry for the confusion. Clarification.
I am sending an email from my alias address which is hosted in Australia (non glowhost) to adam which is an account I have set up on glowhost using my reseller account. When I send from me to adam, it bounces back.
Is this because Missy doesn't like forwarded (alias) emails? But ordinarily will handle emails to and from adam.
Whats happening is the mail server on Missy notices that promotem.com.au exists on Missy. It then checks to see if there is an email address called gary and when it doesn't find it, it rejects the email because it doesn't find a local sender by that name....trying to prevent spam...
So you can either set this address up on Missy, knowing that when adam replies it is going to go to the inbox on the missy server not the one on the server in AU, OR you ca set the MX for promotem.com.au to point to your mail server in AU
OK, we have promotemhost.com on missy and promotem.com.au in australia...there shouldn't be any confusion should there?
promotem.com.au also on Missy, and thats the problem. i see it in your WHM under "list accounts."
aha, thank you. Why do we have the australian domain in WHM? I know my office set it up...but I am new at this. Thanks.
I do not know why it would be in there, unless your people created it because they were planning on moving the site to the Missy server.
thank you, that would be the answer. we are planning to move it to missy but not yet. Ends.
