Default Changing DNS - other host

I have a client which purchased her domain (calling it "maindomain") and an additional domain (calling it "addldomain") through dot5 hosting, it was in her file structure as:
    public_html/domains/addldomain/

it was registered with tucows and never developed.

When I login to the domain control panel for her maindomain, there is no information on the addldomain to change the dns. She was never supplied with a username or password for the addldomain.

How do I get the dns changed?!
    Thank you,
    Lynne Hanson

Hello, addldomain must be a so called free domain, that is the domain which is controlled by the hosting company. So, you should contact dot5 hosting to investigate this issue.

Thanks Alexander - I figured so...she's just had a crazy time dealing with them already and I was hoping there was an alternative.

    I appreciate your response!

To clear the record, not all "Free Domains" are registered or controlled by the hosting company. Most hosts register these "free domains" in the name of the hosting company, not the name of the customer.

Its basically another way these guys like to "stick it" to their loyal customers.

GlowHost offers free domains, however we do it differently. We register them in the customer's name, not ours. Here is a useful FAQ:

I actually spent 2 hours waiting for them to respond via their online chat to gain access to the domain. Which, of course, had to be elevated to a domain specialist - give me a break!
I'm still waiting for the information....

The thing that stinks is it wasn't a free domain name - she paid 7.95 for the registration.

The very best part about her old host is: when I changed her maindomain DNS - they billed her credit card 4 days early! When she called and demanded the refund - even though her current subscription was still valid - they deleted all the files so she was in "deadzone" until it resolved.

Pretty crappy operations.... she did some research after we got everything resolved and I guess these people have mutilple complaints against them...just shows you should really do some research.

I really did not want to move from my other hosting provider, but I did do research and even tried 4 other hosting providers before choosing glowhost. I usually cancelled within 24 hours as I knew what I expected from a hosting provider and what was not going to work for me.

I am so-o-o-o glad to be at glowhost!!
    Thank you,
