Slowdown around 12:30-ish AM EST

Over the past few days I have noticed that the performance of my site slows down around 12:30 am EST.

Since the site is still not in production, and I am typically the only one clicking around, I can only assume the slowdown is due to some external factors. Is this when the nightly backup occurs, or is there something else that may be having an effect?

Backups start around now. If you are on a VPS that is what the deal is at this moment. We try to run them off peak hours for US customers.

Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to finish the backup on vern-118?

Impossible to say. Depends on a lot of factors like if there is high load on the VPS or the main hardware node itself, the backups may go to sleep for a while while the load drops a bit.

The dedicateds complete a lot faster since its just the one site on the machine in most cases and the backups are configured much more load-friendly than the way Virtuozzo likes to run them.
