That is a setting in the vB admin not the server itself, pretty sure anyways. If you have the old ticket number post it and we can have a look at what was done.

not sure if tickets are still kept that long matt i will look. i am positive it was done on the server side for you all had to do it for me. i have the search already set in the vpanel admin area but only will search up to 4 letters and it is a stock forum and most stocks are 3 letter
here is the ticket number. he said what he did but i dont know what he said . but i am learning. ticket number ABC-2356-984
Do you want us to post the command here on the forums so that you can do this via root shell or do you want us to fix this for you?

go ahead and post here and let me try. that way if anyone else needs to do it they will know how. remember i am a computer dummy and always have someone else do things for me but now that i have my own dedicated server it is time for me to learn how to do things. all i ask if if i mess it up save me lol.
You need to login to your server via shell and edit the file /etc/my.cnf . Type in the shell:
#vi /etc/my.cnf
and add the following directive to it under the [mysqld] section:
Code:ft_min_word_len = 2
ok i am totaly lost on what you just said. i only need it done to stockmarketcats and not to the motorbicycling.com site. i quess could you do it for me? please. need it to work for 3 letters
