How are things now?
They've been good since yesterday and I've instructed the email users to monitor their service for any issues.
Appears to have been fixed, thank you. Do you know what the problem was?
Well, for some reason cPanel had no clue really. The started to blame our hardware until I told them it was not only your server. And then they still blamed the hardware.
At the end of the day, Clam AV was to blame. The package had some errors and they are fixed now.
cPanel still doesn't know what the problem is. I will update them when I am done here.
OK. Do they know clamd is still failing from time to time?
Yes they do. still going back and fourth with them. It doesn't seem to be affecting mail delivery it seems. Is that correct?
I've had one complaint yesterday, but now that exim is failing with increased frequency I can only imagine that it will start affecting the mail delivery more.
He had to switch to IMAP because "it continued to hang on the incoming server."
Can you have them look into the ftpd failing, too? You've seen the emails from the server. It's causing FTP uploads to time-out, so it's a problem.
Its not just your server with this problem it seems. And yes, I see the FTP warnings too.
What we did a few hours ago was load a new kernel for your machine and rebooted it to load the new kernel.
We are still watching it.
OK, thanks - I'll let you know how it goes.
Sounds good. It seems so far so good, but we will watch it for a day or so before considering it fixed.
Loading a new kernel seems to have fixed the issue. No failed IMAP notices since.
