Some people also like to use a browser for FTP. Though this method is not supported or recommended (mainly because of compatibility and security issues with Internet Explorer) some of you will be able to ftp using your browser.
IE seems to have the most issues, but we can start by typing in:
ftp.yourdomain.com (your actual domain name)
With IE you might get a popup welcome message with talk of no anonymous ftp allowed. If you see this it will say that it cannot access the contents of this folder. This is normal. next use the file menu and then choose the "Login As" option. You will have to type your cPanel/ftp username and password and it should work for the majority of you. Check the box to save your password if you like.
If you still have problems with IE you can try another browser like FireFox, but again you should look into an FTP program if your web site authoring program does not have a built in publishing utility already. Many people who are reluctant to use an ftp program end up actually liking them better in the long run.
The best way I can describe it is use an FTP program for FTP'ing and use a web browser for browsing web pages. This is where you will get the best results.
